Search sources

Choose which of your connected tools the search bar queries — Slack, GitHub, Drive, Jira, Notion and eighteen more — per person, with no background index.

The search bar can query the tools you use alongside your directories, so one search finds the doc in Memory, the thread in Slack and the ticket in Jira. Settings → Search is where you choose which of your connected accounts it queries. It is per person: every account decides for itself.

How it works

  • Search owns no credentials. It reads the same per-account connections as Settings → Connectors. Connectors answers "is this account linked"; Search answers "does the search bar query it".
  • Query-time only. Enabled sources are asked live when you search, in parallel, with slow ones cut off so the results do not wait. Nothing is indexed or copied in the background.
  • Results are grouped by source, under your directory results, and open in the tool they came from.

Sources

Turn a source on

  1. Open Settings → Search.
  2. For a source already connected under Connectors, switch it on. Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, Gmail, Jira, Linear and Notion connect with the same sign-in popup Connectors uses, so if one is not linked yet you can link it here.
  3. For the long tail — GitLab, Figma, PagerDuty and the rest — there is no sign-in popup. Generate a personal access token in the provider's own settings and paste it. We never ask for, or store, a provider password.
  4. Some sources take one more setting, such as a workspace or instance URL. The row asks for it.

Switch a source off at any time; the account stays connected under Connectors. Disconnecting under Connectors removes it from Search as well.

Scope and privacy

Each source is queried as you, with your access, so results are what you could see in the tool itself and nothing more. A colleague searching the same directory sees results from their own connected accounts, not yours.
