Ontology and audit

Teaching a directory your words, and re-running its audit.

Ontology

Every organisation has its own words. An ontology maps the product's general terms onto yours — if you say accounts rather than customers, say so and the work follows.

Breadcrumbs showing these terms are off by default; turn them on with Show ontology breadcrumbs.

The audit

The audit reads your organisation stage by stage — market, customers, product, pricing, channels, operations, outcomes — and records three things per stage: what has visibly been decided, what has not, and in what order things were settled.

That last part is the useful one. Knowing a company has settled its product but not its channel tells the system which questions are live.

Running it

Run audit in directory settings. It runs against the directory's website, so set that first.

Where the result goes

Into the directory's context, so it rides along with every later request — the work knows what you have already decided and does not re-litigate it.

Re-running

Re-run after anything that changes the picture: a repositioning, a new market, a pricing change.
