Bulbul

Bulbul was an Indian live streaming commerce marketplace, an app in which hosts presented products on video while viewers watched, chatted and bought. Its own copy called it "India's First live streaming commerce platform". It never published a developer portal, an API reference or a seller integration guide, and as of 2026-09-22 there is nothing left to integrate with: bulbul.tv serves a landing page frozen at pre-launch wording, its interior pages are intact but unmaintained, and unrelated casino link text has been injected into every page on the domain. This page records what Bulbul was, the evidence that it is finished, and the recommendation to retire or reclassify the catalogue entry.

What it is

Bulbul was a marketplace, not a store builder. Its terms of use, still served at bulbul.tv/terms and dated with an effective date of 1 March 2019, state it plainly:

• The operator is "Bulbulshop Shopping Network Private Limited, a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 with its registered office at 5th Floor, Plot 44, Sector 44, Gurugram, Haryana - 122022".
• The service is "an online market place for indigenous Indian sellers to make their products available online to be viewed by the Users and purchased by the Registered Users".
• It was deliberately app-only: "The Service is not made available on a browser environment and will have to be installed as a" mobile application.
• Disputes sit in New Delhi.

The home page describes the assortment as "kitchen gadgets, jewellery, personal care and wellness" with "early access to thousands of products", and the format as viewers who "watch and chat with our hosts, while they present new and exciting products live on the phone".

Two things follow for an integrator. First, "indigenous Indian sellers" and a hosted live video format means sellers were recruited and merchandised by Bulbul's own team, which is the opposite of a self-serve channel with credentials. Second, an app-only marketplace with no browser surface leaves nothing to crawl, which is why so little of it survives.

Evidence that it is finished

• bulbul.tv returns HTTP 200, but the page is frozen in the future tense: "Bulbul will be the first shopping app where viewers can watch and chat with our hosts". That is pre-launch copy still live years later.
• The only interactive element left is a WhatsApp link and two "We Are Hiring!" blocks that are commented out in the markup.
• Every page on the domain, the home page and the terms included, now carries a block of injected link text for online casinos and sports betting in French, Italian, Japanese and Korean. A domain being used this way is a domain nobody is looking after.
• The Internet Archive's capture of bulbul.tv from 4 June 2022 shows a completely different page whose only visible content was the string mera.link. That domain does not resolve on 2026-09-22, so whatever Bulbul became at that point is also gone.
• bulbulshop.com and bulbul.shop do not resolve. bulbul.in resolves to an unrelated chemicals exporter.
• No Bulbul shopping app is findable on Google Play. The obvious package identifiers all return 404, and the Bulbul-named apps that do exist there are unrelated streaming and OTT products.

API access

None. There was never a developer site, a partner programme page or published documentation. The terms of use, which are the only substantial document the domain still serves, contain no reference to an API, to data access or to integrations of any kind.

Authentication

Not applicable.

Objects we can read

Nothing. There is no seller panel, no export, no feed and no report format we can evidence.

A brand that sold through Bulbul would have had a commercial relationship with Bulbul's category team, and whatever reporting existed arrived by whatever means that team used. None of it is recoverable now.

Writing back: listings, price and stock

Not available. On a hosted live commerce format the platform controls the presentation, the pricing shown on air and the stock allocated to a show. A seller never had a listing object of its own to write to, and there is nothing running to write to now.

Mapping to the unified model

Do not create a bulbul channel value. If historic Bulbul sales exist in a brand's records, they will have come through as wholesale or consignment transactions, and they belong wherever that brand keeps distributor sales, with Bulbulshop Shopping Network as the counterparty name.

Recommendation for the catalogue

Retire the entry, or at minimum move it out of storefronts. Bulbul was never a storefront platform: it was a video-first marketplace, and it is no longer operating. If the catalogue keeps dead channels deliberately, mark it as historic so nobody schedules connector work against it.

Gaps and open questions

• What happened to the company. No shutdown notice, no acquisition announcement and no company page is reachable, and the one intermediate signal we have, the mera.link page from June 2022, leads nowhere.
• Whether mera.link was a rebrand, a pivot or an unrelated tenant on the same domain.
• Whether a Bulbul app was ever published at scale, and under which package identifier. The absence from Google Play today does not prove it never shipped.
• Whether Bulbulshop Shopping Network Private Limited is still an active registration. That is a Ministry of Corporate Affairs lookup, not a web question.
